Our Broken World

1. 1.8 billion undernourished
2. 400 million on the verge of starvation
3. 15 million annual hunger-related deaths of children under 5
4. 1.3 billion without safe water to drink
5. 25,000 a day killed by dirty water
6. 1.1 billion without adequate shelter
7. 100 million with no shelter at all
8. 60 million abandoned children and infants
9. 300 million homeless/family-less children
10. 80 million supported by garbage collection/recycling
11. 1.5 billion with no access to medical care
12. 50 million exploited by child labor
13. 80 million beggars
14. 1 billion illiterate/non-literate adults
15. 3.7 billion with no political freedom (1.3 billion in religious countries)
16. 2.5 billion women denied full rights and equality
17. 1.5 billion school age children with 1 billion with little or no access to schools
18. 4 million political prisoners (1 million due to religion)
19. This year, 5 million will die from malaria, 3 million from TB, 400,000 from AIDS, 2.6 million from tobacco-related deaths and 401,000 from suicide.
20. This year, 4 million un-immunized children will die from 6 infectious diseases and 5 million from diarrhea-related deaths.
21. 32 million work as slaves.

So in response to this I ask myself, what am I doing to help? What are you doing to help? I know it is overwhelming but I do believe we are all responsible to help in whatever way God has gifted us.
